Pretreatment of the surface is the key to high-quality powder coating
Pretreatment of the surface is the key to high-quality powder coating

Everyone knows that the surface must be prepared before any painting.

Someone is satisfied only with degreasing, without removing metal oxides from the surface, and believes that this is quite enough, someone goes further and not only degreases, but also creates conversion protective layers on the surface. In any case, if the surface is prepared incorrectly, then after a short time defects appear on the painted layer. To avoid the occurrence of defects, it is necessary to carry out appropriate surface preparation before painting.

Tasks for high-quality surface preparation:

  • it is necessary to remove a layer of dirt and grease residues on the metal surface
  • remove the oxide layer
  • increase the contact plane with the paint
  • create an intermediate (conversion ) layer between metal and paint - such a layer should improve the interaction of polymer paint molecules with metal and protect the metal surface from corrosion

For chemical treatment of aluminum surfaces, we chose the preparations and technologies of the industry leader, Alufinidh GmbH ( Germany ).
